Dr. Dalia Hochman is well known for her leadership and strategic advisory work for Summit Public Schools, the high-profile Silicon Valley charter network funded by The Chan Zuckerberg Education Initiative. Previously, Dr. Hochman served as the Director of K-12 for Next Generation Learning Challenges, managing a $40 million grant program to seed new, innovative high schools across the United States. Dr. Hochman began her career as a high school history teacher and school administrator in New York City. She holds a BA from Yale University and a PhD from Columbia University.

In addition to her nationally-known academic leadership, Dr. Hochman has deep connections to Judaism, Torah, and Israel. Originally from Lexington, Dr. Hochman is married to Dr. David Schidlow, a pediatric cardiologist, and they have three children: Benjamin, Gabriel, and Eliav.

Dedicating the New Gann Academy Innovation Center

Gann's new Innovation Center lets students move fluidly from small group work to class presentations, from research to prototypes, and from questions to answers.

The largest building project since Gann’s move to 333 Forest Street, the construction of the Innovation Center reflects Gann's focus on creative, interdisciplinary, and collaborative learning in all subject areas. Students of all grades can choose from more than ten classes housed in the innovation labs—across engineering, computer science, and digital media.

Beyond the lab-specific courses, such as Wearable & Smart Tech and Digital Photography, students from all subjects are able to use the center—ninth-grade physics students will build roller coasters and water heaters in the Fabrication Lab, history students will create artifacts in the Prototyping Lab, and theatre students will use the spaces to design, model, and build props for the play.

Learn About Our New Garden Project

This summer, Gann Academy launched our new farm project. The ambitious addition to the Gann landscape will provide an agricultural context to our Jewish studies courses and festivities.

Learn more about the project from Jewish Life Coordinator Noah Weinberg.
